Africa's wealthy Lebanese fight to secure savings in IMF deal
The preliminary agreement made between the IMF and Lebanon on 7 April will have serious consequences for what the financial institution diplomatically calls the "large depositors" of Lebanese banks. In reality, this technocratic term refers to the mostly Shi'ite Lebanese businessmen in Africa who are fighting tooth and nail to protect their savings.
